This Privacy & Participation Policy explains how your data is collected, used, and shared when you participate in the Directory of Environmental Health Professionals, part of the Alliance Map Wiki, a project of Halt the Harm Network.

By adding or managing a listing, you confirm your agreement with the terms below.

1. Who We Are

The Directory of Environmental Health Professionals is hosted by Halt the Harm Network and forms part of the Alliance Map, a collaborative public database of people and organizations working on environmental health and justice.

2. What Information We Collect

A. Directory Listings

When you create or edit a profile, we collect the information you choose to provide, such as:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Organizational affiliation(s)
  • Biography, credentials, and issue areas
  • Optional contact or location info

You control what appears publicly. Any required internal information (e.g., email or phone) is not shown unless you choose to display it in your public bio.

B. Form Submissions

We use a third-party tool, Fillout, to manage form submissions. If you use a form to submit a listing, update a profile, or contact support, the information you provide will be stored securely and only used to manage your participation in the network.

C. Email Communication

We may use your email address to:

  • Confirm your listing or account
  • Share updates related to the directory or Alliance Map
  • Respond to support requests

All communication is opt-in, and you can unsubscribe or request removal at any time.

D. Analytics

We use privacy-first analytics tools that do not track personal data, do not use cookies, and do not follow you across the web. These tools help us understand site traffic in aggregate form.

E. Media Uploads

If you upload a photo or other media, please avoid including location (EXIF) data, as this can be extracted by others.

3. Cookies

We use minimal cookies required for site functionality, such as managing sessions or preferences. We do not use cookies for advertising or tracking.

4. Embedded Tools and Third-Party Services

This site may embed external tools (e.g., maps, forms) or use the following third-party services to manage and display directory information:

  • Fillout – for forms and user input
  • Airtable – for storing and organizing directory data
  • Kit.com – for browsing network resources and records

Each of these services has its own privacy practices, but we do not allow them to sell or use your data for advertising.

5. How We Use Your Data

We use the information you provide to:

  • Display your public profile in the directory
  • Manage and maintain listings as part of the Alliance Map
  • Connect you with movement resources or opportunities (if you opt-in)
  • Respond to inquiries or support requests

We never sell your data or use it for advertising.

6. Data Sharing

Your listing may appear in smaller sub-directories or campaigns within the Alliance Map Wiki. You will always have control over whether you are included in these views, and you can update or remove your listing at any time.

We do not share your information with outside partners, and we are no longer collaborating with FracTracker Alliance on this project.

7. Data Retention

  • Public listings are retained indefinitely unless you request removal.
  • Form submissions are kept securely and used only for internal purposes.
  • Email communications are stored only while relevant or until you unsubscribe.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • View or update your listing
  • Request to be removed from the directory
  • Ask how your data is used
  • Withdraw consent at any time
